VENUE

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Cleaning, Trash, and Equipment Removal. The Venue will be in a clean condition prior to the event.  The clients are required to return the space to the same clean condition in which it was found. Any  cleanup of decorations, food, etc., must be completed by the end of the rental period. The client is  ultimately responsible for removal of any trash, decorations, equipment, furniture, food, or other  items brought onto the property by the client, vendors, or guests. Items may not be stored before or  after contracted event time unless prior written arrangements have been made. 

2. Decoration and Use. The Venue wants to make every event here a special and welcome experience.  Therefore every effort will be made to allow renter to prepare decorations reflecting their creative  requirements. Remember that decorations do need to be picked up before the end of the rental period (including all flower petals, etc). We ask that only the staff of the Venue be consulted and approve prior to rearranging  or move any furnishings, lighting, antiques or seating. No nails, screws, staples or penetrating items  should be used on our walls. Any tape or gummed backing materials must be properly removed and  in an extreme case of any wall damage, a charge may be taken from the Damage Deposit.  Additionally, the following decor rules apply to any use of the Venue: 

  • No smoke or fog machines are permitted to be used inside any building. 

  • No open flames (except sterno or contained chafing dish fuel or candles in votives) are  allowed. 

Failure to fully tear-down or clean-up, or violation of décor rules above will cause additional fees to  be taken from the Damage Deposit.  

3. Animals. We love animals, however; we do not allow guests to bring pets (other than service  animals). If the Client signs an Animal Liability Release and assigns an animal handler to each pet, the Client may bring up to two pets for their ceremony. The pets may not attend the reception or spend the night in the Mansion. Service animals are allowed but must be always on leash. Service dogs must have proper documentation showing they are certified service dogs.

4. Alcohol. If the Client desires to serve alcoholic beverages at their event, they must hire a TIPS certified bartender and must include insurance coverage of host-provided alcohol. All responsibility  and liability for serving alcohol is incurred by the Clients. All State and Federal laws concerning the serving and consumption of alcohol must be followed. Client shall not sell alcohol on premises at any time. Client may not serve alcohol to minors on the premises at any time. Client agrees, for everyone’s safety, to ensure alcoholic beverages are consumed in a responsible manner. The Venue reserves the right to terminate the serving and consumption of alcohol to any guest at any time.

5. Music. If the Venue feels the noise level is extreme, we will require the music/DJ/Band Service turn the music down to an acceptable level.

6. Overnight Parking. You are welcome to park in the upper lot (by the front door). You may also arrange with the Venue to park on the Carriage House lot overnight but may not park overnight without prior arrangement. No vehicles may remain in the lower lot (on Leslie Lane) overnight. If you have a guest who should not be driving, please ask for permission for them to  leave their car. We want everyone to be safe! 

7. Smoking. The Venue is a smoke-free facility. The use of vapes and marijuana is also prohibited inside the  buildings. The buildings at the Venue are potentially flammable historic buildings. No smoking in any restroom. If smoking materials are discarded in planters, sidewalks or grounds, an extra cleanup charge will be imposed. Any guests  violating the smoking restrictions will be asked to leave the premises by the event staff.

8. Lost and Found. The Venue takes no responsibility for personal effects and possession left on premises during or after any event. We do, however, maintain a lost and found and will hold recovered items up to 30 days. Every attempt will be made to return any recovered item to its rightful owner.

9. Children. For safety reasons, children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

10. Conduct. Somers Mansion takes pride in treating our clients and guests with the utmost respect and  kindness. In return we expect to be treated the same. We reserve the right to have uncooperative or  verbally abusive clients, family or guests removed from the premises. Client and guests shall use the  premises in a considerate manner at all times. Conduct deemed disorderly at the sole discretion of  the Venue staff shall be grounds for immediate expulsion from the premises and conclusion of the  rental period. In such cases no refund of the rental fee shall be made.
